Theme for the week: Love
Prayer for the week: O God of all the prophets, you herald the coming of the Son of Man by wondrous signs in the heavens and on the earth. Guard our hearts from despair so that we, in the company of the faithful and by the power of your Holy Spirit, may be found ready to raise our heads at the coming near of our redemption, the day of Jesus Christ. Amen.

IMAGINE (Candle lighting)
Today we light this candle to make ourselves available to you. We light this candle that your love might shine bright in our lives. It is easy for you to get lost in the midst of all the other things in which we participate. If only for a few moments, we long for this day to be different. We light this candle so that when you call to us we will be ready to answer.
(The person lighting the candle can say, Jesus is here. Everyone else, by his spirit he is here.)

Luke 2:1-5 (NIV)
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

Gratitude: There is a lot of uncertainty in our world. Life is filled with ups and downs, twists and turns. Pause for a moment to express gratitude for the many blessings you and your family have received. Express gratitude for one another, for your home, for your neighborhood, schools, church, and so on. If you or anyone in your family is experiencing hardship, pray that God will bless you with what you need in this time. Once you have spent time in thanksgiving, pray that God will move in our church family to bless our neighbors and those who are experiencing uncertainty in life.

Ephesians 5:1-2 (The Message)
Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.
